About this Specialisation
Aims to provide managers with a comprehensive understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legal obligations, risk and management systems.
Students will also gain an insight into Workplace Health and Safety Laws. Upon graduation, students could be in a position to manage and support OHS professionals in the field, particularly those in the resources sector.

Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of theories, practices and recent innovations within the in Occupational Health and Safety field.
- Select and apply creative and innovative problem solving methods which are informed by Occupational Health and Safety information obtained using transliteracy skills.
- Critically review, analyse and synthesise in Occupational Health and Safety information to investigate and make decisions about the most effective ways to address complex Occupational Health and Safety problems.
- Communicate Occupational Health and Safety information and strategies to a range of local, and national; Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders using a variety of techniques and technology.
- Work independently to integrate Occupational Health and Safety theory and knowledge when planning, implementing and evaluating innovative and sustainable risk control strategies.
- Work in a team to collaboratively develop and implement risk control strategies to address identified Occupational Health and Safety issues.
- Engage with local, national and international Occupational Health and Safety professional organisations in order to maintain and improve professional competence.

Employment opportunities
Managers holding a MBA with an Occupational Health and Safety specialisation will be in a unique position to manage and support OHS professionals in the field. Larger organisations, particularly those in the resources sector, employ a range of certified OHS professionals which managers are required to engage with, as well as regulators such as the Department of Mines and Petroleum and Worksafe.
