Student stories

  • Work placements were pivotal in developing my passion for speech pathology.

Speech Pathology at ECU is set apart as the course provides work experience from the first year of the degree, onwards. Placements were one of the most valuable aspects of my degree and were pivotal in developing and reaffirming my passion for speech pathology, as well as identifying areas of interest. I participated in a variety of placements, including in hospital, school, community, and government settings.

  • Joel is changing lifestyles through exercise physiology

ECU Exercise Science and Rehabilitation graduate Joel Skinner is an exercise Physiologist and Team Leader at Absolute Balance Exercise Physiology Group. Here he talks about his work and his time as a student.

  • I decided to follow my heart and pursue occupational therapy, rather than always wonder 'what if.'

I used to work as an HR admin for an aged care and disability organisation, recruiting carers, nurses, and allied health professionals.

Hearing them talk about how fulfilling they felt in their roles really inspired me. That's when I decided to follow my heart and pursue occupational therapy.
