Graduate Certificate of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Leadership

The Graduate Certificate of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Leadership is designed to build key leadership capability in Australia’s corporate sector by offering an accessible, topical, and engaging course of study. The program focusses on corporate responsibility, leadership, practice, reporting and investment, oriented through the environmental, social and governance (ESG) paradigm. The ESG paradigm has become very prominent in corporate Australia in recent years owing to its inherent ability to pitch corporate dialogue, focused on de-carbonisation, sustainability, ethical practice, combatting modern slavery, as well as employee and supply chain health, safety and wellbeing, in an appealing, positive and market-oriented manner, which benefits corporations and promotes societal wellbeing.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate ESG leadership by initiating, planning, implementing and evaluating tasks in the context of corporate practice.
  2. Apply high-level, independent judgement when analysing and evaluating complex ESG problems to generate creative solutions.
  3. Communicate specialised knowledge, concepts and skills related to ESG considerations to a variety of audiences in corporate contexts.

Admission requirements

Admission requirement (Band 6)

  • Bachelor degree; or
  • Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience.

English Language requirement (Band 4)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Bachelor degree from a country specified in the Admissions Policy;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience; or
  • Other tests, courses or programs as defined in the Admissions Policy.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level

This course has been accredited by ECU as an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate Award.

For accelerated online, enrolment is classified as part-time, as students are studying one unit per study period with 6 accelerated study periods per year, each 7 weeks in length.
