This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in a range of technical production jobs in creative arts industry environments. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others and have limited responsibility for the output of others.

All applicants are required to attend an interview. Students should provide a brief portfolio that includes the following: - A paragraph detailing your interests, experiences and any technical skills you have in either design, costume, lighting, scenery and props, sound or stage management. Also include why you are passionate about the Arts and why you wish to enrol in the course. - A reference from your School explaining where and how you have been involved in a show or production at your School; if possible, the reference should include information relating to the technical areas listed above. A reference from your school commenting on your ability to respond to directions and to be self-directed in your study. - A brief paragraph detailing your knowledge of trends and traditions in at least one of the technical areas listed above. Those skills and knowledge may have been acquired through personal or work experience, or through formal study.
Requirements from 01-JUL-2025: All applicants are required to attend an interview. Individuals must provide evidence of their skills in live production and technical services and the ability to: produce a body of work demonstrating the ability to respond effectively to workplace requirements associated with live production and technical services in line with current industry standards and apply a basic knowledge of trends and traditions in at least one area of technical production. Skills and knowledge may have been acquired through experience or formal study.
This course has been accredited by ECU as an AQF Level 4 Certificate IV Award.
A work experience component will be delivered within each of the partner secondary schools.
Students must complete 4 core units and 12 elective units.
