Graduate Certificate in Screen Production

Screen stories are a powerful mode of storytelling that combine moving images, sound, music, lighting, editing and effects to create deeply emotive and transformative experiences for audiences. In an age where we can take our screens wherever we go, and access screen stories wherever we want, the demand for people who can thoughtfully produce high quality, ethical works for screen in a range of formats is greater than ever before. This Graduate Certificate course introduces students to a variety of production roles across screen and media industries and provides practical opportunities to apply the production skills learnt in a variety of formats including live broadcast, news, sport and entertainment, scripted and documentary work. The Graduate Certificate in Screen Production will introduce students to the transformative power of screen storytelling and equip graduates with the knowledge and skills required for employment in production roles in the screen and media industries.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Communicate advanced knowledge, concepts and skills to a variety of audiences using screen storytelling and production.
  2. Apply high level, independent judgement when analysing and evaluating complex ideas to create screen projects.
  3. Demonstrate management and collaborate skills by initiating, planning, implementing and evaluating screen production projects.

Admission requirements

Admission requirement (Band 6)

  • Bachelor degree; or
  • Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience.

English Language requirement (Band 4)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Bachelor degree from a country specified in the Admissions Policy;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience; or
  • Other tests, courses or programs as defined in the Admissions Policy.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level

This course has been accredited by ECU as an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate Award.
