This Masters by Research degree consists of coursework and research in the first year, with the second year devoted entirely to research. The coursework component provides training in skills required for high-quality research, while the research component consists of preparation of a research proposal, the conduct of research, the preparation of a thesis and participation in seminars.

All students are required to have a three-year specialised degree in Biological Sciences, with equivalents considered.
