This course provides a high-quality and broad-based coverage of multi-disciplinary engineering. In the modern engineering environment, large-scale engineering projects are increasingly likely to be of a highly multi-disciplinary nature, requiring engineers from diverse backgrounds to be able to work effectively as a team to deliver the outcomes. In such environments, a broader understanding of engineering, beyond one specific area of specialisation, is highly desirable and advantageous. Developing such breadth in four-year engineering courses is a challenge as it compromises the level of specialist knowledge that is also required from a graduate engineer. This three-year program, followed by specialisation in ECU's Master of Engineering course, affords the opportunity to develop this strong multi-disciplinary knowledge base. This course comprises the first part of a pathway to becoming a professional engineer. Graduates of this course will have guaranteed entry into the two-year Master of Engineering degree, where they will choose their area of specialisation from Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Power, Electronics and Communications, Computer Systems, Instrumentation Control and Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering. Graduate Engineer status is achieved at the completion of the Master of Engineering course. This educational program follows the 3+2 model of engineering education which has been widely adopted in Europe. Graduates of this engineering program will have an edge in their engineering careers due to greater depth and breadth in their education compared to standard four-year engineering courses.

Academic admission standard for the following entry pathways:
All applicants are required to have WACE Mathematics 3C/3D or Mathematics: Specialist 3C/3D, with equivalents considered, and have WACE Physics 3A/3B or WACE Engineering Studies 3A/3B, with equivalents considered.
Requirements from 01-JAN-2017: All applicants are required to have Mathematics: Methods ATAR, with equivalents considered, and Physics ATAR or Engineering Studies ATAR, with equivalents considered. It is desirable that all applicants have Mathematics: Specialist ATAR, with equivalents considered.
Portfolio pathway applications are not accepted for this course.
Bunbury applicants please note: There is an option to study up to eight foundation units from this degree at ECU's South West (Bunbury) campus, which may include attending a short set of lab sessions at Joondalup campus by the end of each semester, depending on the units studied. After completing these eight units, Bunbury students will need to attend ECU's Joondalup campus to complete the rest of their course.
