Graduate Certificate of Executive Leadership and Management

This course builds students' managerial capabilities for a career in the public sector and related fields through the coverage of a range of topics relating to leadership, change management, the management of self, teams, and organisations. Theory is presented in a highly applied manner that highlights the importance of context in applying key concepts. Students are exposed to a wide variety of issues in the contemporary public sector workplaces and assessments will require the application of core concepts to their own workplace to maximise the relevance of the learning to each individual's unique situation.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a body of specialised leadership and management knowledge and practice by planning, implementing and evaluating tasks in a business setting.
  2. Apply high level, independent judgement when analysing and evaluating complex problems to generate creative solutions.
  3. Communicate specialised knowledge and concepts to a variety of audiences in business settings.

Admission requirements

Admission requirement (Band 6)

  • Bachelor degree; or
  • Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience.

English Language requirement (Band 4)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Bachelor degree from a country specified in the Admissions Policy;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience; or
  • Other tests, courses or programs as defined in the Admissions Policy.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level

This course has been accredited by ECU as an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate Award.

Non standard timetable requirements

On-campus delivery may be via block delivery in a six-week accelerated mode. Units will be delivered from Perth CBD, or Joondalup campus. Block delivery involves online delivery of material, supported by intensive block/s of on campus learning. The material delivered via online mode will occur prior to and post the face to face teaching.

Cross Campus Attendance

On-campus delivery may be via block delivery in a six-week accelerated mode. Units will be delivered from Perth CBD or Joondalup campus.
