Graduate Certificate of Business Psychology

Professionals who understand human behaviour and how to leverage this knowledge in organisational contexts are in demand across corporate, government, and not-for-profit sectors. The Graduate Certificate of Business Psychology (Accelerated) thoughtfully combines units from the School of Business and Law Management Discipline and the School of Arts and Humanities Psychology Discipline to develop a contemporary evidence-based perspective. Designed for professionals who want to lead change in the workplace, graduates will gain the expertise required to apply psychological frameworks to complex business settings and empower people and teams to achieve organisational goals.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate mastery of a global body of business psychology knowledge and practice, including knowledge of research principles and methods.
  2. Apply critical thinking and technical skills to solve authentic business psychology problems.
  3. Demonstrate effective communication skills.
  4. Independently initiate, plan and execute a substantial project to meet agreed deliverables.
  5. Justify decisions and judgements that address a complex business psychology issue considering the ethical and social consequences.

Admission requirements

Admission requirement (Band 8)

  • Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline; or
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience.

English Language requirement (Band 4)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Bachelor degree from a country specified in the Admissions Policy;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience; or
  • Other tests, courses or programs as defined in the Admissions Policy.

Course Specific Admission Requirements

All applicants are required to meet the published entry requirements*. Alternatively, applicants who possess the equivalent of a four-year, full-time, non-cognate undergraduate degree may also apply for this program. This includes graduates from four-year bachelor programs in education, nursing, engineering degrees, as well as those from these and other fields who may have completed an honors degree. * Cognate disciplines include (but are not limited to): Business, Commerce, or Psychology. Relevant professional experience constitutes five years of working in professional contexts underpinned by managing human and team behaviour, motivation, and psychology. This includes (but is not limited to) those working in traditional business administration and consulting roles, and extends also to those with experience working in healthcare, engineering, education, social and community services contexts, with equivalents considered, with equivalents considered.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level

This course has been accredited by ECU as an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate Award.
