Creative writers play an important part in people’s lives, giving us stories that change the way we see ourselves and the world. This Master of Creative Writing will give you the knowledge and skills to create the stories that everybody loves: the books we read, the films we watch, the TV shows we binge, and even the information we consume can transport us to strange worlds and distant pasts, can terrify and uplift us, can break our hearts and make us laugh. Learning from expert writers, you will develop vital techniques and skills that will give you the confidence needed to succeed as a contemporary writer able to consider diversity, own voice, and social, environmental, and cultural issues. You will learn to craft a variety of forms, such as literary and genre fiction, poetry, non-fiction, and dramatic scripts. You will also develop the knowledge that will allow you to get your work published, promote your author platform, and reach a wide readership. You will develop your craft through this fully online, self-paced experience, where you will be able to collaborate with peers and tutors, culminating in your own original major creative project working closely with a supervisor. All applicants are required to meet the published entry requirements. Alternatively, applicants may apply with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in a related field including Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, Literature, Cultural Studies, Media Studies or Communication Studies. Successful applicants with a Bachelor degree, or higher, with significant coursework in a related field may seek reduced course duration by applying for recognition of prior learning (up to 60 credit points).
This course has been accredited by ECU as an AQF Level 9 Masters Degree (Coursework) Award.
For accelerated online, enrolment is classified as part-time, as students are studying one unit per study period with 6 accelerated study periods per year, each 7 weeks in length.
