This course is ideally suited to healthcare professionals working with people who have dementia. The course is relevant to acute care, long-term residential aged care, and community care settings. The varied backgrounds of students to whom the course is relevant, reflect the growing need for high quality care for people with dementia across the healthcare sector. The course has a multidisciplinary focus and is aimed at facilitating students' learning in areas relevant to the management of dementia. The key areas addressed are the knowledge and critical approaches required to underpin students' practice as leaders in the area of dementia care.

All applicants are required to have completed a bachelor degree in a health related discipline, and provide proof of current registration with the appropriate health professional registration board (e.g. Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia), and provide a copy of their resume. It is desirable that all applicants are employed for a minimum of 18 hours per week in specialty, and demonstrate a minimum of two years full time healthcare experience.
