This course, with majors in Photomedia, Fashion and Visual Arts, has an emphasis on quality creative output and critical inquiry, with an international outlook. Students will gain professional artistic experience through development of creative networks, production, studio work and exhibitions, combined with theoretical insights that engage with our current visual culture. The course also prepares graduates with skills that are integral to the workplace, such as communication, independence, innovation and lateral thinking.

- All students engage with industry and have site visits through the unit CCA3111 Preparation for Professional Life. - Students are able to complete the unit CCA3104 Professional Placement and have it count towards their major. - Students are able to undertake individual industry projects through the unit CCA3108 Independent Study and have it count towards their major.
Students must have successfully completed any prerequisite units; successfully completed at least two thirds of the requirements towards their degree and either:have a Weighted average mark (WAM) of 65% or higher across their course, or have a WAM of 70% or higher for the two semesters preceding their application.
Students should initially consult with their Course Coordinator at the commencement of their second year regarding Work Integrated Learning processes, timelines and requirements. Students who meet the criteria and who wish to participate in Work Integrated Learning must apply in writing to their Course Coordinator no later than the end of their second year of study. Selection will be based on academic performance, the application and a formal interview process (the interview process typically involves an ECU staff member to begin with and the industry host before the placement is finalised).

Students are also required to complete 180 credit points in the form of a 12 unit major from within the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts.
Students must complete a further eight units (120 credit points) in the form a of an eight unit major, minor(s), and/or elective units.
