Graduate Certificate in Mental Wellbeing

There is a growing recognition of the importance of mental health in our workplaces and communities, which is driving the need for professionals with knowledge and skills to support mental wellbeing. Through the Graduate Certificate in Mental Wellbeing, students develop an understanding of evidence-based practices, crisis intervention and community and public health approaches to mental health care. Designed by experts and drawing on real-world examples, this course empowers students to make positive impacts on individual and community wellbeing.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Communicate specialised mental health knowledge, concepts and skills to a variety of contexts and audiences.
  2. Apply critical thinking skills and independent judgement when analysing complex situations involving mental health issues.
  3. Demonstrate self-management and creativity skills by devising, planning and evaluating initiatives that support mental health outcomes

Admission requirements

Admission requirement (Band 6)

  • Bachelor degree; or
  • Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience.

English Language requirement (Band 4)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Bachelor degree from a country specified in the Admissions Policy;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience; or
  • Other tests, courses or programs as defined in the Admissions Policy.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level

This course has been accredited by ECU as an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate Award.
