The skills of the actor are brought together and integrated into performance. The actor is required to synthesise their knowledge of acting, movement and voice into an effective process and performance. The unit uses a programme of projects: plays, scene work and creative work that are analysed, rehearsed and performed to both develop the students acting skills and examine the role of the actor in an ensemble. The student applies the codes of standard theatre practice to their process of working within the ensemble, which reflects industry standards. After each performance the students will reflect on and analyse their work and discuss the future direction of their acting.
On completion of this unit students should be able to:
Rehearsal in class and own time with a director, Engage in ensemble work, Lectures, Group discussion, Examination of written texts, Self directed library activities, Performance in studio, Panel post production feedback.
