Description

In this unit students will bring all the elements of their acting skills training in the course so far and integrate them into two creative projects. Students will firstly rehearse and perform a Contemporary Scene Showing to selected internal audiences. Then students will rehearse and perform a studio production of a complete play for a school audience. A high level of integration of all class work is expected in the performances.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

1. Perform scene/play showing clearly devised and discernible character development and an ability to contact and affect a scene partner.
2. Integrate foundational vocal techniques into performance during a scene/play.
3. Use foundational physical techniques in performance during a scene/play.
4. Apply self-management skills and test fundamental knowledge of professional theatre practice in a theatre production context.
5. Apply self-assessment of personal practice for improvement in the rehearsal and performance environments.

Unit Content

1. Rehearse and perform a contemporary, naturalistic scene.
2. Rehearse and perform a full length play for staff and student audience.
3. Perform heightened, emotional, dynamic characters appropriate to the scene/play.
4. Realize theatre as an accomplished ensemble.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Rehearsals and performance/showing in a studio and/or locations, critical feedback, including an oral self assessment occurring after each showing, library activities.
