Description

This unit provides a variety of professional studio experiences. Students study with staff and working professionals who provide the knowledge and skills necessary to transition into the industry. A variety of practical aspects of industry are explored - creating a CV, producing reels and marketing materials, aspects of casting, auditioning and on-camera work. Students prepare and perform in a general theatre audition and undertake screen tests for film and television. Students develop professional relationships with industry stakeholders and prepare a showcase performance.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Prepare and perform a monologue or scene for a general theatre audition to a professional standard.
  2. Prepare and perform a screen test for a film or television show to a professional standard.
  3. Prepare personal marketing materials to support meeting agents.

Unit Content

  1. Select a theatre scene or monologue to best suit your acting abilities in preparation for showcase.
  2. Select a film or television scene to best suit your acting abilities for showreel.
  3. Meeting with theatrical agents and casting directors.

Learning Experience

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.
