Description

This unit introduces accounting principles and processes and their importance within arts organisations. Students will acquire an understanding of standard bookkeeping processes including: ledgers; journals; trial balances and key financial reports.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Apply understanding within a practical context.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of basic accounting processes.
  3. Understand the importance of accurate and effective financial management within arts organisations.

Unit Content

  1. An introduction to the role of accounting and bookkeeping within arts organisations.
  2. Preparing and maintaining financial records.
  3. Preparing and understanding key financial reports: balance sheet and income and expenditure statement.

Lectures and tutorials involving discussion and problem solving.
