This unit focuses on developing the confidence and skills to teach and lead music learning experiences in pre-primary to year 6. Students will examine a variety of strategies using developmentally appropriate songs, rhymes, and instrumental music. Through active and practical learning, students will reflect on the aims, value and importance of music education for the holistic development of the child.

This unit supports pre-service educators who wish to develop the skills and knowledge required to confidently facilitate music learning for children pre-primary to year 6. Through active learning experiences, students will have the opportunity to examine the aims, value and importance of music education whilst applying the pedagogical practices that support holistic musical development for children. Engagement with current literature and resources will support this work.
