This unit will focus on the quality management of an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) clinical laboratory and will include the calibration and assessment of precision and accuracy of essential equipment; staff training and competency records; development and maintenance of records and controlled documents; and the traceability of gametes and embryos. Implementation of internal quality control in the laboratory and participation in external quality assurance programmes will also be undertaken. All aspects of critical criteria and good practice criteria required for Certification against the current Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee (RTAC) Code of Practice (Australia/New Zealand and International Editions) will be examined.
On completion of this unit students should be able to:
