Description

In this unit students initiate the conception, design and execution of an independent arts project in their chosen area of specialism. They will receive guidance from experienced staff or industry practitioners. Depending on the nature of the independent project, it may be undertaken entirely within the research context on campus, or where appropriate, students will be connected with a particular industry partner or placement opportunity. Students will develop their ability to work independently and unsupervised towards a project they have planned, researched and executed. The unit provides an opportunity to develop analytical, creative and technical skills in the service of a special project about which the student is passionate. Students are expected to demonstrate the fusion of their analytical, creative and technical ability in conceiving and conducting a significant arts project in their chosen field.

Students must pass 1 units from BPA3116

Equivalent Rule

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Implement the design, direction and production of a significant creative arts project.
  2. Articulate the analytical, creative and technical aspects of the project in a professional manner or format, as appropriate to the particular project, role and context.
  3. Apply knowledge and technical skills in the chosen field in the realisation of professional performing arts projects.
  4. Demonstrate the interpersonal and communication skills relevant to the particular project, role or context.

Unit Content

  1. Investigation of appropriate modes of research and development for the particular project, role or context.
  2. Logistics of bringing an arts project to fruition.
  3. Articulating and interrogating practical research questions to develop arts projects.

Learning Experience

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.
