Description

This unit introduces students to broadcast production and presentation techniques. This includes the fundamentals of radio and television studio operations as well as the production processes of radio, television and web-based media. Students will also critically examine the suitability content for the different broadcast media and develop material for radio, television and the web. Students work in teams to produce information-based radio and television programs. The television program is made available to community television for broadcast.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from BRO3000

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Evaluate the suitability of material for broadcast.
  2. Operate broadcast equipment in the studio and the field.
  3. Present a completed e-portfolio to potential employers.
  4. Produce a range of materials for broadcast via radio, television and the web.
  5. Work in teams to create radio and television programs.

  1. Basic Production for radio, TV and web-based media.
  2. Basic TV and Radio studio operations.
  3. Broadcast presentation skills.
  4. Construction of TV and Radio Programs, and web-based content.
  5. Operation of Broadcast equipment.
  6. Writing for broadcast.

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant Board of Examiners.

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
