Description

This unit refines students television production and presentation techniques. This includes the fundamentals of television studio operations as well as the production processes of television and web-based media. Students will also critically examine the suitability of content for the different broadcast media and develop material for television and the web. Students may have to work in teams to produce information-based television programs. The television programs will be made available for broadcast by a commercial television partner.

Prerequisite Rule

BRO students must pass: BRO3000 OR BRO3001 OR FAV3422 OR FAV3401

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Make critical judgements about the suitability of content for different types of broadcast media.
  2. Write material in a format suitable to the intended broadcast medium.
  3. Demonstrate independence and responsibility for own learning through reflecting on and evaluating personal practices, performance and feedback in broadcasting.
  4. Demonstrate working familiarity with studio camera operation.
  5. Exercise critical thinking and judgement to examine a wide range of issues and plan suitable content for broadcast.
  6. Deliver a television presentation to a high standard.

  1. Basic TV studio operations.
  2. Basic production for TV and web-based media.
  3. Broadcast presentation skills.
  4. Writing for broadcast.
  5. Construction of TV and web-based content.
  6. Operation of broadcast equipment.
  7. Camera operation.
  8. Video editing.

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.
