Description

This unit analyses important ecclesial and educational principles underpinning Religious Education taught in Catholic schools. A major focus of this unit is to critically apply a knowledge and understanding of the implementation of the Religious Education Program (Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary) used in Catholic schools in Western Australia. Students will be supported in building the required skills for critical analysis, evaluation, application and the integration of unit content.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse ecclesial and educational principles underpinning Religious Education in Catholic schools.
  2. Critically evaluate the structure and pedagogy of the Religious Education Program (Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary) used in Catholic schools in Western Australia.
  3. Critically analyse issues concerned with assessment and reporting in Religious Education.
  4. Integrate unit content with individual life experience.

  4. Spiritual and religious capabilities of young people.

Students will engage in learning experiences through ECUs LMS as well as additional ECU l

Lectures, tutorials, student centred discussion groups, online learning activities and learning tasks.
