Description

In this unit, students continue with their research project specifically engaging in the tasks of data collection and analysis.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from COU6427

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse the data employing rigourous quantitative (statistical) or qualitative protocols.
  2. Implement the processes of research data collection.
  3. Plan the final research report.
  4. Produce illustrative graphical representations of the data.
  5. Synthesize the research findings within the context of the extant research literature.

Unit Content

  1. Analyse and synthesise findings.
  2. Implement a research proposal.
  3. Prepare and present a written research report, including a literature review, research findings, discussion and reflection on results.
  4. The major curricula topics covered in this unit will depend upon the students research question. In general, this unit will address how to:

Learning Experience

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Students will conduct their research under the tutelage of a research supervisor - a member of the academic staff competent in the student's chosen research area.

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant Board of Examiners.

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
