This unit is undertaken by students who have been awarded a work experience project. In this unit the student is supervised by a staff member who is allocated as their academic supervisor in addition to an industrial supervisor who is an experienced staff member of the organisation hosting the work experience project.
This is a work experience unit in which the placement is equivalent to at least one semester. Academic supervisors ensure that an agreed plan of work is executed and in company supervision is carried out by an industrial supervisor.

On completion of this unit students should be able to:
Students, under the supervision of a nominated supervisor, will take responsibility for their own outcomes through regular feedback meetings with the academic supervisor, industrial supervisor and through independent study and research. The underpinning learning process is that of action learning in which aspects of the work experience are reflected upon with a view to altering future behaviour or tactics.
