Description

This unit is undertaken by students participating in the Work Integrated Learning scheme. In this unit the student undertakes a semester long industry placement under the supervision of a host supervisor. Through the Work Integrated Learning placement and project work, the student will develop context specific technical experience along with professional interpersonal and communication skills.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 unit from CSI5113

Equivalent Rule

Unit was previously coded CSI5255

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Apply theoretical and applicable knowledge to workplace based problems.
  2. Demonstrate critical thinking, innovation, self reliance, strong interpersonal skills and cultural competence.
  3. Demonstrate industry relevant technical and procedural experience.
  4. Plan and implement solutions to workplace problems and.
  5. Reflect on the requirements and attributes of the workplace environment, including dress and behaviour codes, occupational health and safety issues, workplace conduct, information technology governance etc.

Unit Content

  1. Evaluating workplace performance.
  2. Implementation strategies and techniques appropriate to workplace projects.
  3. Project management and evaluation.
  4. Time management.
  5. Workplace documents, policies and procedures.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Students will spend the entire semester in a full time industry placement, working closely with their host supervisor in a team environment.
