This unit is undertaken by students who have been awarded a work experience placement. In this unit the student is supervised by a staff member who is allocated as their academic supervisor in addition to a workplace supervisor who is an experienced staff member of the organisation hosting the work experience student. Students undertaking a work placement will demonstrate discipline knowledge, communication and collaboration skills in addition to a proven professional work ethic whilst undertaking projects in an industry setting.
This is a work experience unit in which the placement is equivalent to at least one full-time semester (or at least 450 hours) of industry engagement. Academic supervisors ensure that an agreed plan of work is executed and in company supervision is carried out by a workplace supervisor.
Students must pass 1 unit from CSI5113 or CSI6219
Student must be enrolled in a School of Science course

Students, under the supervision of a nominated academic and workplace supervisor, will take responsibility for their own learning and professional outcomes through regular feedback with the workplace and academic supervisor and through independent study and research. The underpinning learning process is that of independent learning in which aspects of the work experience are reflected upon with a view to altering future behaviour, including academic and professional capabilities.
