Description

This unit focuses on the development of an Information Technology research proposal, in which the scope of the research will be defined along with the research questions, data collection methods and the overall design of the research.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of a focused research question, and the methods by which a research idea becomes a research question.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the various steps involved in the process of developing an information technology research proposal.
  3. Develop a research proposal suitable for consideration by the ECU Faculty of Health, Engineering and Science's Research and Higher Degrees Committee.
  4. Prepare an ethics submission suitable for consideration by the ECU Faculty of Health, Engineering and Science's Research and Higher Degrees Committee.

  1. Developing the research design.
  2. Ethical aspects of information technology research.
  3. Formulating the research question.
  4. The research process.
  5. Writing the research proposal.

Work in this unit is based primarily on consultation with the student's research supervisor(s).
