Description

This unit focuses on the development of an Information Technology literature review, in which the literature relevant to a research proposal is reviewed to a significant level of depth.Students should use high quality academic sources to provide both background information and specific content relevant to the topic area being explored in a research proposal.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the role high quality literature plays in developing a research proposal.
  2. Identify the key authors and seminal publications in a specific field of research.
  3. Implement a rigorous examination of theliterature relevant to the aims of a research proposal.
  4. Reflect on the prevailing views in the literature in in the broad context of a specific topic of research.
  5. Use bibliographic tools to organise and manage a collection of citations.

Work in this unit is based primarily on consultation with the student supervisor(s) in the development of a literature review.
