Description

Students will select a topic for study in consultation with the unit coordinator and or supervisor, and write an indepth paper on the selected field using appropriate research/writing techniques.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Employ appropriate research techniques to the study of a designated topic.
  2. Use and critically evaluate a range of primary and secondary source material in their chosen field.
  3. Use appropriate formats and style for the presentation of studies in a designated topic.

Unit Content

  1. Exploration of a significant topic within a chosen field of study.
  2. Planning, preparation and drafting of a research paper.
  3. Research skills as appropriate for topic.
  4. Use of primary and secondary sources.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Independent study supported by supervision, tutorial or seminar attendance depending on topic of study.
