Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop basic acting skills for performances in commercial, community or open space settings by singers, dancers, actors, comedians and other performers who use basic acting skills in their performances. They may be performing solo or as members of an ensemble. At this level work is normally supervised, though some autonomy and judgement can be expected in live performance situations. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Knowledge Evidence

Performance Evidence Evidence of the ability to: Demonstrate basic acting skills, Demonstrate basic vocal techniques when performing dialogue, Explore and develop characterisation techniques, Work collaboratively. Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided for each of the above points at least once. Knowledge Evidence To complete the unit requirements the individual must in the context of developing acting skills, demonstrate a basic knowledge of: Historical, social and cultural significance of drama and theatre, Key historical and contemporary playwrights and their texts, Health and safety requirements associated with performances. Explain how the following apply when acting: Group dynamics, Effect of voice on audiences, Common theatre conventions, Lighting design, Props, Set design.
