This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to prepare costume items and dress performers for live performances or screen productions. At this level, individuals are required to use some discretion and judgement and operate under broad supervision within an established framework of plans and procedures as they take responsibility for assisting performers whose role could require frequent costume changes. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Performance evidence Evidence of the ability to: Interpret dressing requirements and dress performers to meet those requirements, Meet production deadlines, Handle costumes with care, Ensure costume continuity, Work cooperatively with others involved in productions. Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided for each of the above points at least once.
Knowledge evidence To complete the unit requirements the individual must: Describe appropriate behaviour and protocols in relation to dressing performers, Provide examples of production schedule terminology, Describe the format and meaning of production documentation used by dressers, Describe work health and safety (WHS) regulations that affect the role of dressers.
Assessment conditions Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in the live entertainment industries. The assessment environment must include access to costumes and accessories to dress performers. Assessors must satisfy SNR/AQTF assessor requirements.
