This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required by performers, such as singers, actors, dancers, circus performers and comedians, to participate in rehearsals for performances. Techniques employed include acting, singing, dancing, movement, mime, acrobatics and improvisation. Rehearsals could be for performances in commercial, competition or community settings and performers would usually be working in ensembles, partnerships or performing solo. In a rehearsal context performers are collaborating with each other and working under the direction of an artistic director or producer. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Supersedes and is equivalent to CUAPRF405A - Rehearse technique for performance
Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.

Evidence of the ability to: - demonstrate performance skills in chosen technique - demonstrate progression of performance skills over the rehearsal period - provide critical analyses of own and others performances - work collaboratively with the production team. Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided for each of the above points at least once.
To complete the unit requirements the individual must: - in the context of rehearsals, explain how the following apply to performers: - performance and rehearsal protocols - hearing protection - overcoming performance anxiety - protection of body against injury from overuse - safe lifting procedures - describe issues and challenges that arise when rehearsing performances and suggest solutions to address them - describe key aspects of the following: - relationship between rehearsals and performances - repertoire relevant to own area of performance expertise - performance vocabulary and terminology - principles and techniques in area of specialisation.
Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in a performance environment. The assessment environment must include access to: - opportunities for full rehearsal practice - well-equipped stage or performance area in which to conduct rehearsals. Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements.
