This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop and explore vocal techniques relevant to musical theatre performances. At this level supervision and guidance are provided during practice sessions but individuals are expected to work independently on experimenting with ways to expand and strengthen vocal techniques associated with conveying meaning and emotion through effective delivery of spoken word and songs. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Evidence of the ability to: Perform, in a learning environment, scenes from at least two musicals that demonstrate an ability to maintain vocal consistency when moving from spoken to sung text. Use the voice to communicate thoughts and feelings to audiences. Do vocal warm-ups and warm-downs. Work collaboratively. Develop own vocal skills in response to constructive feedback. Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided for each of the above points at least once.
