This subject provides students with the knowledge and awareness to contribute to the response to, and management of these events. Students will explore the challenges of providing leadership during major incidents and will learn how risk perception and risk communication are important for effective response to a crisis. Students will also learn about workforce readiness and willingness to respond and examine the concept of duty of care in the context of large-scale incidents. Students will participate in case-based learning by examining a range of contemporary major incidents and disasters.

The foundations of your learning for this subject are provided through seven online modules, suggested journal readings, online discussion threads, and assignments. The online discussion forum will allow you to interact with your fellow students who will prove to be a valuable learning resource through the sharing of experiences.
