This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop fundamental acting skills to be applied during performance for film and television. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Context of and specific resources for assessment Assessment must ensure access to: " video recording and playback equipment " studio where rehearsal can be applied and discussed " computer technology for playback and viewing of performances " access to a range of relevant and current industry repertoire Method of assessment A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit: " evaluation of work plans and responses to script and texts " direct observation of candidate practicing, working, performing and collaborating " verbal and written questioning to test knowledge as listed in the required skills and knowledge section of this unit " video recording of performances or practice sessions " portfolios, journals or other documentation and notation that demonstrate the reflective processes used by screen actors " case studies and scenarios as a basis for discussing components of screen acting techniques " oral questioning in rehearsal to test thoroughness of preparation

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
