This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop specialised acting techniques for performance in single and multi camera production environments. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Required Skills " communication and teamwork skills to: o generate, communicate and implement ideas and actions through the identification, analysis and evaluation of information o receive and provide constructive feedback and apply it to future work o work as an individual and as a member of a collaborative team o demonstrated ability to work with others in a professional environment " technical skills to: o work with production-related technology, such as cameras, lighting and special effects " self management skills to: o execute well-rehearsed application of screen acting techniques at a pre-professional standard " perform with a structured approach to playing a role on screen based on imagination and textual analysis, such as: o apply personification, sense recall and affective action o maintain focus in a technical, demanding production process o ability to solve problems and be fully engaged in the process of screen acting " application to and satisfactory contribution in practical class work and showing or prepared exercises Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit Evidence of the ability to: " prepare an appropriate response to a script or stage brief " expand and perform screen acting techniques suitable for specific performance " perform competent skills in screen acting techniques under direction " work creatively, collaboratively and constructively with artists, performers, script writers, directors and technical crew.

Required Knowledge " principles and techniques involved in acting for screen " known techniques to prepare for screen performances " the context of screen acting practice: o how a professional film shoot operates o framing and camera angles when performing " knowing quick demands made upon the actor in a screen environment " OHS and safe performance practices in the context of performing in film, television and studio environments

Assessment

Context of and specific resources for assessment Assessment must ensure access to: " video recording and playback equipment " rehearsal studio " simple set and prop requirements " computer technology for playback and viewing of performances Method of assessment A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit: " evaluation of work plans and responses to script and screen briefs prepared " direct observation of candidate working, rehearsing, directing and collaborating " verbal and written questioning to test knowledge as listed in the required skills and knowledge section of this unit " video recording of performances or practice sessions " portfolios, journals or other documentation and notation that demonstrate the reflective processes used by screen actors " case studies and scenarios as a basis for discussing components of screen acting techniques " third-party workplace reports of on-the-job performance

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant Board of Examiners.

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
