Required Knowledge " industry knowledge for auditions including: o the audition process for stage and screen o importance of rapport with the audience o suitable audition repertoire o the role of the director in audition " contemporary theatre practice and employment opportunities " negotiating role of the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) and agents

Assessment

Context of and specific resources for assessment Assessment must ensure access to: " video recording and playback equipment " rehearsal studio " simple set and prop requirements " computer technology for playback and viewing of performances Method of assessment A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit: " evaluation of work plans and responses to script and screen briefs prepared " direct observation of candidate working, composing, directing and collaborating " verbal and written questioning to test knowledge as listed in the required skills and knowledge section of this unit " video recording of performances or practice sessions " portfolios, journals or other documentation and notation that demonstrate the reflective processes used by screen actors

GS5 VET GRADING SCHEMA Used for WAAPA VET only

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant Board of Examiners.

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
