Description

This unit focuses on the development of an understanding of pedagogical and assessment strategies in Design and Technology through an analysis of teaching, the production of a portfolio and the contextualization of outcome level statements. Students will also develop maintenance and safety procedures related to workshop tools and equipment.

Non Standard Timetable Requirements

Both on-campus and residency mode of delivery available. Selected Pre-service Teachers may complete some aspects of the unit within the residency schools as part of the residency mode.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Assess student achievement of the Technology and Enterprise learning area outcomes.
  2. Develop a portfolio that demonstrates coverage of Technology and Enterprise learning area outcomes.
  3. Devise learning activities which will address the outcomes for the Technology and Enterprise learning area.
  4. Use a rational pedagogical process to help students solve technological problems.

  5. Teaching methods in design and technology.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Students will be involved in laboratory work, demonstrations, discussions, research and lectures as appropriate. Students will be expected to work outside of class time to complete exercises, assignments and readings.
