Description
This unit provides opportunities for pre-service teachers to engage in designing and implementing a school-based project. The nature of the project will be determined by negotiations between the pre-service teacher, school and unit coordinator. Approval to enrol in this unit must be obtained from the course coordinator.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit students should be able to:
- Demonstrate an awareness of ethical principles in professional practice and the conduct of research.
- Demonstrate generic skills, attitudes and knowledge in the design, implementation and reporting of a school based project.
- Identify a conceptually and/or professionally significant topic.
- Identify and explain the key issues and problems of implementing a school-based project.
- Outline a range of school-based strategies and tools that encourage engaged learning.

- Action research models.
- Complexities of school learning environments.
- Ethical principles in the conduct of professional and research practices.
- Identifying conceptually and/or professionally significant topics.
- Undertaking school based projects.
