Description

This unit prepares students to make an effective transition from university to employment as a classroom teacher in a range of teaching contexts. The unit will familiarise students with workplace operations, support mechanisms and policies in readiness for employment, and will reflect current state and national trends that will impact on making this transition.

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse and justify personal teaching philosophy.
  2. Apply knowledge and demonstrate evidence of teacher competencies.
  3. Present key current topics in education.
  4. Review current policy and accountability systems.

  1. Current and future educational policy and accountability systems.
  2. Developing teacher competencies and relevant artefacts.
  3. Personal teaching philosophy.
  4. Preparations for the workplace as a beginning teacher.
  5. The application for employment process.
