In this unit students will examine approaches to classroom motivation and management for children exhibiting challenging behaviours. Students will be encouraged to critically evaluate various theoretical perspectives on behaviour and current issues around student behaviour in schools. In addition, students will investigate the development of caring and respectful learning environments for learner engagement and the application of theoretical perspectives to learning situations. This unit also includes the opportunity for students to practise the skills of connecting and building relationships with children, and responding effectively to challenging behaviour.
