Description

This unit involves the preparation of a literature review to inform the development of a research topic appropriate for a Master of Education by Research. The unit is designed to develop and extend the students' understanding of the identified field of inquiry through examination of appropriate literature. The outcomes of the unit will be jointly determined by the student and their research supervisor. Completion of a range of tasks is possible, including a detailed annotated bibliography, or papers related to the selected topic.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse and evaluate contemporary issues in educational practice and/or educational research.
  2. Analyse presentations and readings related to the selected topics.
  3. Demonstrate active reflection, a consideration of related literature and/or an identifiable position or issue statement in relation to a selected topic.
  4. Outline the implications of selected topics or investigations for educational practice.
  5. Undertake independent inquiry.

  2. Literature review exemplars.
  3. Study contract.
