This unit will consider educational issues for students who experience literacy-based Learning Difficulties and Learning Disabilities including Dyslexia. The emphasis will be on assessment, planning, organisation, management and teaching of these students within the regular classroom and through targeted specialist support. A critical analysis of high impact instructional strategies and the identification of current trends in educating these students will be undertaken. The unit has a strong practical component and students will be given the opportunity to apply diagnostic assessment in order to recommend appropriate Tier 1, 2 or 3 Intervention.
