Description

This unit provides students with the experience of applying engineering principles and skills to a specific practical project related to motorsports. The project is selected from a set of representative motorsports projects proposed and supervised by staff members. The project is presented inthe form of a progress report. The work is extended through the Motorsports Project 2 unit ENM3212. The project tests the ability of the students to tackle a practical motorsports project and to apply problem solving skills.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from ENS2106, ENS3105

Students must pass 210 credit points

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a knowledge of publications in the selected area.
  2. Formulate solutions to a chosen problem.
  3. Prepare a detailed project proposal.
  4. Prepare a progress report.

Unit Content

  1. Conceptual development of alternative solutions.
  2. Critical review and analysis of the solutions.
  3. Preparation of progress report.
  4. Problem analysis.
  5. Problem formulation.
  6. Publication search.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Define and achieve outcomes for a team motorsports project by individually implementing smaller manageable tasks to complete the project.
  2. Present a detailed project report for an applied motorsports project.
  3. Explain the role of design, experimentation and simulation in the whole of the life cycle of a motorsports project.
  4. Research and evaluate contemporary publications related to the relevant motorsports project.
