Description

This unit picks up the outcomes of the project undertaken as part of ENM3211 Motorsports Project 1 and develops them further. It further improves students problem solving and design skills by allowing them to further refine the solution developed in ENM3211, implement the solution, and perform comprehensive testing on the developed solution/product. It also improves students writing and presentation skills through the provision of a major final report and a seminar presentation.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 unit from ENM3211

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Design a device, component or system for motorsports using a formal approach.
  2. Implement the device, component or system.
  3. Perform experimental work to verify the design.
  4. Prepare a detailed project report.
  5. Present a professional seminar.
  6. Use appropriate simulation techniques to verify the design.

Unit Content

  1. Conceptual design and requirement analysis.
  2. Cost/benefit assessment.
  3. Functional analysis.
  4. Project implementation and test.
  5. Refinement of the design.
  6. Simulation tools for design verification.
  7. Verification using simulation tools.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Regular meetings with the project supervisor.
