Description

This unit is the continuation of the unit ENS6126: Master of Engineering Design Project 1 and represents the culmination of studies that demonstrates an ability to undertake and complete a major engineering design or research project. At the end of this unit students are required to document an implemented and tested system, or a completed body of research work, in a major design report or thesis. Students are also required to give an oral presentation which provides an overview of their project work. Reports and presentations are reviewed by an assigned examiner and the supervisor.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from ENS6126

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Communicate the work done and the outcomes achieved to peers through a substantial written report/thesis.
  2. Demonstrate skills in independent learning and reflect on teaching and learning processes in relation to professional practice.
  3. Demonstrate the application of sound engineering principles / research methods and the systematic application of appropriate tools and technologies to a substantive project task.
  4. Evaluate the outcomes of a substantive engineering design / research project and make recommendations on the basis of that evaluation.
  5. Perform appropriate experimental work and/or formal modelling and analysis to achieve the goals set for a substantive project task.
  6. Present the outcomes of an engineering project in a seminar to a technical audience.

  2. Course episode report.
  3. Formal design / modelling.
  4. Functional analysis / data analysis.
  5. Planning and implementation of research and/or design tasks.
  6. Preparation of an engineering report / thesis.
  7. Project implementation, verification and testing.
  8. Seminar presentation.

Supervised implementation and verification of the project.
