Description

This unit examines the impact of the changing regulatory framework of education with a focus on accountability for the alignment of resources to improve student outcomes. The unit considers what makes an effective educational institution, risk management and review within the framework of the international context, national interests and state responsibilities. The changing nature of the relationship between different regulatory bodies is explored within the context of accountability for improved educational institution performance.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse the impact of regulatory frameworks and global influences on the way in which educational leaders operate.
  2. Critically discuss educational institution resourcing and educational leader accountability as influences on improving performance and student learning outcomes.
  3. Critique common educational leadership strategies and practices in the field in light of current evidence-based research.
  4. Design and develop strategies to lead an educational institution review process within a self-assessment and improvement paradigm.

  1. Module One: Leading organisations; accountability frameworks.
  2. Module Three: Leadership strategies for accountability or compliance; accountability and organisational cultures in a global education context.
  3. Module Two: Accountability and staff performance; accountability and student learning outcomes; accountability and ethics.
