Description

Students will undertake a self directed project, allowing them to apply a broad range of disciplines, processes and techniques based on a particular area of interest. The aim of this unit is to develop practical and theoretical skills to promote praxis, allowing the communication of individual ideas through visual language with a specific context of the body and garment.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 2 units from FAS2101, FAS2103

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Apply practical and conceptual skills to develop a self directed body of work.
  2. Demonstrate an individual approach to praxis.
  3. Discuss the theoretical, cultural and historical context of their thematic work.
  4. Formulate research information and ideas into a written proposal and timeline.

Unit Content

  1. Application of design concept.
  2. Critical analysis of works in progress.
  3. Garment construction skills and problem solving.
  4. Presentation of work through oral discussion and appropriate use of digital technologies.
  5. Self directed research and proposal presentation using APA referencing.
