This unit will engage students in the understanding of the conceptual bases of physical activity, the development of fundamental movement skills and more specialised sport skills and how these outcomes can be achieved through different movement experiences. The effective design, implementation and organisation of the program with respect to the developmental needs of children will be studied. Principles of student-centred learning and inquiry-based learning will provide a framework for designing and reflecting on these skills for physical activity outcomes in primary schools. Issues including safety, teaching students with special needs and ethical and moral perspectives in sport will be covered.
